Hi all,
the former e-smith forums are now hosted by contribs.org.
These forums will be as they are for a bit, until we can provide you with a maybe more suiteable mechanism.
Thanks, and please do continue to post all of your 'issues'.

I'm pretty happy with this style of forum.... something like phpBB2 seems like overkill for what we need.
When somebody gets a chance, I'd recommend adding something to the header/footers of the pages to make it easier to jump between forums, rather than going back to the main contribs.org page, then the forums link.

Forgot to mention... excellent job getting the data migrated!!

Thanks Abe,
Yeah we need to adjust the header/footer a bit.
Thanks

Are the messages still going out via email ? Do we need to resubscribe ?
BTW Like the look, quick job of moving over.

Well there is missing something very important to me: receive an email notice when someone repplies to the thread...
-
Laurent,
thanks for the feedback. Give us a bit while we work out the details and apply adjustments if neccesary.
contribs.org small team is working out details to make it a BIG team. Stay tuned.

My message flow from General and Experienced User has stopped dead. Devinfo is still broadcasting.

To the contribs.org team
Thanks for taking over the forum hosting, good effort.
I would also say (request) that the notification by email of other messages posted to a particular thread that I have posted to, is quite a good feature to have. Please do what is needed to reinstate that feature (as time permits of course).

A couple of days ago I wrote...

...but no one commented, so here it is as a a question...
Is this what is intended, in other words, have the forums in question become bulletin board only, or are they still supposed to be sending mail to registered users, or do I have to make some changes in order to get the mail transmision pointed back at me?

Feature request: large 'forums' button on the main contribs.org page.

"If you don't hear anything, it stays the same"
This is not the case I am not receiving ANY emails except from dev-info, so my question is: Is this the way the boards are now or is there an error ?

Do you have a time estimate for when the mail exploders will be set up? It shouldn't be a big job.

Where are these discussions taking place, and what is the content of the discussion? Why is the discussion not open?

hi
Can we open a new form so we can help make decisions on how we move forward.
We need to be open and inclusive as soon as possible in order to start this project in the best possible way.

Hi,
I too, since Friday, have not received any mail from the General & Experienced lists.
Can anyone from "contribs" confirm whether this is a lists problem or is this the way they will be running from now on (i.e. onsite access only.

The problems with the email subscriptions to the forums is being worked on even as we speak.
You'll notice that we have the "E-Mail replies" function working this morning at the bottom of the new post screen.
The email subscrriptions to the forums is a high priority item and we'll have it up and running as soon as we can.
Cheers,

Thanks for the update and all the hard work by yourself and others.

Charlie,
I think it's of no use to discuss technical details of the contribs.org server with all subscribers of devinfo list atm.
contribs.org is preparing the initial platform with a small team so _all_ of the community can comment on it so we can change it.
But I guess we have to start somewhere and make fast descisions and work them out quickly.
