Post by: Klaus Eckert on December 11, 2003, 02:49:57 AM
hi there

on a SME-mirror i found the "smeserver-6.0unsupported.iso" with filedate 12-11-2003.
the location of that file is ftp://ftp.fsn.hu/pub/linux/distributions/e-smith/releases/6.0/
it seems that it is the promised final version 6.0.

would someone please confirm that.

cheers klaus

I Found the 5.6 at the duch and 6.0 on the hungarian and the english server. The size of the 6.0 is reduced down from ca 330 MB to ca 270 MB. How gan this be ? Is there anything left out or is it due to compression ? Downloading for testing now.

Just rsynced it, verified md5sum and install from ISO to vmware.
Looks good even with reduced size! :-)
I wonder what was dropped out? some debugging development pieces?

From the lists:

---------------
Thanks for catching this. It seems that a typo in a build
configuration file has resulted in several of the kernel packages being
excluded. We didn't notice it in testing, as we could not test on all
supported platforms.
We've pulled the iso, and we're fixing the problem. Stay tuned, and
thank you for your continuing patience.

Is that bad? I already installed the damn thing (only my webmail broke).

A fatal error has occurred:

DB Error: connect failed

[line 108 of /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Prefs/sql.php]

Should the news section on contribs.org be changed to reflect this 'bad' iso version, giving file sizes etc.?

I have just wasted an hour downloading it....

Peter.

It is obvious that it has happened some kind of accident during the last phase of prepering the iso. Something has just gone lost. Of cource I'm not in the Mitel team, but I beleieve accidents can happen and that they will be ready with a new iso quite soon. At least I hope so :)

I can see that the size of the download from the english download site is now increased from 270 tp 334 MB. I guess it now works OK. Thanks a lot mr Wang !

I apologize for being a total newbie to Linux.  I just downloaded what seems to be the new release on Friday (12/12/03).  I installed SME 6.0 from the CD on a virgin machine, then restored a desktop backup from a 6.0b2 server.  However, I am getting the PHP error when accessing webmail, namely:

"A fatal error has occurred:

DB Error: connect failed

[line 108 of /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Prefs/sql.php]

Details have been logged for the administrator."

In checking the log, it says:

Dec 13 01:42:04 blackbox HORDE[1997]: [imp] DB Error: connect failed:  [nativecode=Access denied for user: 'horde@localhost' (Using password: YES)] ** Array [on line 108 of "/home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Prefs/sql.php"]

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?  If I can fix it using Dan Brown's excellent howto for changing the mysql password (see http://www.familybrown.org/howtos/mysql-password-howto.html), what is the name and path of the database in question?  IF that's not the solution, does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem Thor Anthrax mentioned, with the new version (342 MB, timestamped 12/11/2003 at 4:03pm).

Any insights as to what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Anyone report this bug to Mitel yet? *hint hint*

I wouldn't have noticed this if someone had not brought it to my attention.

I've used phpmyadmin to change password for horde@localhost
contrib for phpmyadmin is available from this site.

Eduardo,

did you "Reload MySQL" under phpmyadmin after changing the password?

Hi Michael,

Just to be sure :-)

1)   I install the phpmyadmin contrib.
2)   I Correct the password.
3)   I restart the MySQL server.

But how do I know the correct password or where do I find it?

Best Regards

Denbert,

it's in the configuration database for SME.
To look it up you need to run at a command prompt:

/sbin/e-smith/config show horde

and you should see a result like this:
horde=service
    DbPassword=Gg^dKLdtj
    access=SSL
    imp=installed
    status=enabled

This "DBPassword" is the one that you want to use to update via phpadmin.

Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Just installed the phpmyadmin and entered the site https://myserver/phpmyadmin

This is a very complex site.

Where exactly do I make the changes?

Thanks in advance, as I’m a newbie.

If you are trying to learn how to use the phpMyadmin you may want to use the documentation links within the software or go to the site.

Hi Clint,

I’m NOT trying to learn anything about phpmyadmin.

Actually I hate it. I just want my webmail up and running as before the upgrade from 6.0beta3 to the “final” and buggy 6.0.

Anyone else with a suggestion for a fast solution?

Cheers

Denbert,
I you don't want to learn or deal with the bugs, you probably shouldn't use beta versions of any software on the first place.
Just find someone to fix and maintain it for you and happily use it.

Boris,

Please read my posting before answering.

There was nothing wrong with the beta version.

It was the final release witch fucked up my webmail after the upgrade.

I’ll solve the problem with a clean install.

Denbert:
I friend of mine solve this problem downloading all de horde packages from version 1.0.x to version 4-0-x and reinstalling one by one over the old one,
rpm replacepkg horde.1.x.rpm
after the sema with 2.x.rpm and so on.

Mike Soulier posted a solution that worked for me at http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=20210.msg79517#msg79517

Basically the horde password needs to be reset.  Mike thoughtfully included directions on how to do that in his message.

I also ran into this problem:
-----------------------------------------------------
A fatal error has occurred:

DB Error: connect failed

[line 108 of /home/httpd/html/horde/lib/Prefs/sql.php]

Details have been logged for the administrator.
-----------------------------------------------------
This was for an upgrade from 5.6 to 6.0final.

I only lost one day's worth of e-mail, I replaced the server with one that upgraded right (same CD). Recreated all the users, I-Bays, and settings to match the wounded box. Any Ideas on how to retrieve the e-mail from that server? :hammer:

Had the same problem.  No explanation as to why.  Loaded the box twice before with no problems, then on 3rd installation, could not access Webmail.
