Title: SME 6.0 as Printserver
Post by: Reinhold on December 12, 2003, 04:06:50 PM
Hi,

I am running SME 6.0 in a small, mixed network (SuSE 8.2 and WIN XP. It works fine but I can't print from my Linux-client on the printer attached to the SME-Server. Printing locally from SME works (ASCII-Text with copy or cat).
On the client I receive an messnge like "driver not running "

Any ideas ?

Thanks
Reinhold

You might try installing CUPS on the server and workstation.

I can print to sme using lpd:\smehost\printer from linux using lpr or cups and from Windows using TCP/IP printing.  I find this easier to use for Windows PCs since you don't need a user account on the SME server to print to it with ldp.
