Title: ifdown and if up in sme 6.0
Post by: Dan on December 12, 2003, 05:26:57 PM
Hello,
I often times from putty will do an "ifdown eth1" followed by an "ifup eth1" on 5.5 and 5.6 servers, with no problems in that it quickly and efficiently releases and renews external IP with ISP.
Yesterday on two 6.0 servers this command was tried and it did not provide the expected reslults and did not generate any error either.
These two servers had to be rebooted to get the External IP to renew.
I do not have an 6.0 available to experiment right now, but wondered if any one could try this and see if it works, or comment if the procedure is different in 6.0
Thanks,
DAN
