Title: set max downloadspeed per workstation
Post by: Ruud on December 21, 2003, 09:34:23 PM
I have an SME server V5.6 with 4 workstations running.
My total downloadspeed (adsl) is maximum 1024kb.
Can i 'set' the SME to 256kb max downloadspeed for one workstation?

Regards,

Ruud.

I believe this is not possibly with a e-smith 5.6 or 6.0 without quite lot modifications. In one other post here in this forum there vere actually mentioned one freebsd based firewall that I think could be set up in front to make the trafic shaping. It can be done in Linux and e-smith too but I believe there is no "easy way".

Look at other posts here and in the "Experienced User" forum.  Your looking for information on "CBQ" or "QOS".

Very easy to do.  Do a search for CBQ on the experienced board.
