I have a VIA EPIA-800, no CDROM, no floppy.
In october I installed sme6.3b on it using PXE
Now I want to install sme-6.0 and no luck
The PXE receive the dhcp lease, then it uses tftp to get in the pxeconfig.cfg directory to fetch the "boot.conf" style corresponding to its IP address. I see it trying less and less numbers for the IP address. So the tftp is working. And not finding the file corresponding to its IP, it loads the default file which is a copy of the one for 6.3b except the NFS directory to fetch the RPMS etc...
Since the initrd.img and vmlinuz have the same size and date from 6.3b to 6.0, I tried with the images from the 6.3b and same thing.
It looks like the img is getting loaded because it takes a little time after the display of "loading". But then it display CS DS ... (like some king of assembler for the x86).
I even re-install 6.3b and it install like a charm.
Is it still possible to install 6.0 with PXE???
The kernel might be the same but all the files that it is looking for to load are the same from 6.3 to 6.0??? Are some files missing???
Little help will be appreciated:

I found the problem:
I was renaming vmlinuz to vmlinuz-sme-6.0 and initrd.img to initrd.img-sme-6.0
I think it is the .0 that don't work.
I backed-up all the files in the tftp main directory and took back the original names of vmlinux and initrd.img and everthing worked like a charm.
6.0 installed itself alone in about 7:04 minutes. I just had to accept the licence.
PXE is really great

I'm very happy with SME 6 final on my EPIA-800 box but I loaded it by hooking up a CD-ROM drive temporarily. I havn't read much about PXE or netboot. Pointers to how-to's and other documentation would be appreciated by the group.

I made a small PDF describing how to use PXE with a RedHat 7.3.
It is the same thing for SME 6.0
With it, if you play with the install.cfg file, it is possible to take only a portion of the hard drive for the SME and it should be possible to add another distro on the same disk (I have to test this)
If you like to have the PDF, it will be my pleasure to offer it.
Just tell me where I can put it.
For once, I will be able to give back a little to the community

I am following in your footsteps as I've just bought a CL1000 EPIA to run SME Server on.
I plan to use it without an optical drive
so could you perhaps send me your how-to?
perhaps you could upload it to this site so that other people can reference it.
I'm just getting started with Linux so I need some hand-holding.
Many thanks

Just contact staff@contribs.org and we'll setup a place for your howto.
