hi!
it took a while until i realized, that in SME 6.0 every mail is sent thru the server, even if clients have different smtp servers entered in the mail clients preferences.. although that may make sense for scanning all mail traffic going in and out of the network - for me it is a problem.
that's because i'm on a DSL line and mail from these networks isn't accepted by an ever growing number of mail servers (violating RFC822, but they won't listen at AOL, GMX etc..)
so, how can i disable that behavior in SME 6.0 ?

You could try going to the hostnames and addresses tab and removing the mail host?
Just a guess, and I am guessing it would stop you from receiving mail also.....
Dunno???

you mean deleting the SMTP daemon? no way, just stoppping it disables sending mail altogether - it's really the problem of disabling the interception of SMTP traffic by SME..

Send via your ISP, using "SMTP SmartHost" setting.
