Wotcher,
Has anyone tried the e100 drivers with a 6.0 install?
I have the rpm from -
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/Intel/sme56/
but they are for 5.6 and when installed on a 6.0 box the instalation gives this -
[root@oulton e100nic]# rpm -Uv *
Preparing packages for installation...
e100-2.1.29-sme56
WARNING: Running kernel is 2.4.20-18.7. RPM supports kernels ( 2.4.18-5 2.4.18-5bigmem 2.4.18-5smp )
[root@oulton e100nic]#
Will try using it anyway...I'll let you know.

It would appear not...
However, reading the configuration page more closely, I am not still completely sure what it is asking.
The machine is a Dell poweredge 2500 with an onboard Intel 10/100 NIC, it also has another nic an SMC1244 10/100.
When I select the LAN nic, has it already decided that eth0 will be the LAN and I am simply choosing the correct driver for eth0 or am I selecting the nic e100 that happens to be on eth0?
The installer suggests two drivers/nics on a e100 the other a tulip, I am sermising that the SMC is the tulip?
confused.

aha!
using a cunning plan of dark arts and beer I have deduced the following -
As I could read the sticky label on the 2nd nic (SMC1244) and get its MAC address I have found that this is actually been select to be used as eth0.
Soooooo, the e100 drivers don't work pal.
How do I fix that then, anybody, anybody?
comon you know you want to!
maybe it should be a bug?
hmmmmm
