Title: Why is my eth keep going down?
Post by: David on September 23, 2000, 01:40:10 AM
Can anyone help me, I have no idea why this is happen, I didn't have this problem
with other distro's of linux I've used in the past. Below I've attached alittle part of my 'message' log file. For some reason. my eth0 keeps going down for awhile then back up. I can bring up up if I do

ifconfig eth0 down
and then
ifconfig eth0 up

It just seems to do it at random, and of course just when I'm downloading something.

See "Sep 22 16:30:39 " at the bottom, then is when I issued the above statment.

Thanks.

looks like you have a poor ground or something, it keeps changing media (cable connection) so it must be getting a voltage leak on to one of the other ports on the card and so it switches.

I would check the ground on the machine it's self.
