Title: AMI IDE RAID controller
Post by: Hans Mulder on September 26, 2000, 10:05:17 AM
Want to use it in RAID-1 configuration with two large IDE drives. Like to know whether this will work with e-smith 4.0 before I buy the parts.

If not, what hardware (IDE) RAID solution is available that works with little (preferably without any) e-smith modifications. Sofar found references to Arco DupliDisk, Promis Fastrak, and AMI IDE RAID.

Currently am running from a 9G SCSI, but need the data security for full use as file server.

take a look at www.3ware.com

depending on how big you want to get 2 drives 4 drives raid 0,1,or raid 10 (0+1) their cards are reasonable.

the disks hookup to the 3ware card and once setup are independent of the os.

Title: RE: SCSI RAID 5 controller

Hi, recently I just got a Adaptec SCSI RAID 3200S controller card. It work fine with RH 6.1, installed without any problem using the driver disk provided. However when I try that with e-smith, it didn't work. When it prompt for accept or upgrade, I entered "accept dd" so that it prompt for driver disk. After that it didn't even prompt to locate the new drivers and go right in trying to install.

Is there a way to load the new driver and make e-smith recognise it?? After that is should be ok. Since e-smith is based on RH 6.1, why not have the options of adding new drivers witht the disk prompt?

Appreciate if anyone can help, thanks in advance.

Best regards,
klan
