Hi guys,
Has anyone installed a 3ware corp. model 6200 2 port ide raid controller on
e-smith 4.x?

Thanks in advance.

Not as far as I know, but I did put in a purchase request yesterday for that exact item, so that e-smith can evaluate it for compatibility. Stay tuned :-)

I installed on a Promise Fastrack100Raid controller a few days ago. I didn't use ata100 drives - just plain ide drives but I did raid 1+0  ie. 4 drives striped across two and duplicated across 2. Install went fine and it was working fine. But I am on vacation this week and it is behind our firewall at work so I haven't been able to test it or anything. The client that owns the machine will have about 1500 clients using it as thier mail server and wants a webmail/intranet system so I am using TWIG for that. Also the machine is a dual PIII 750 so it should handle the load well. I think they could have gotten along with 1/4 that much machine. But money is not an object as they are saving 1500 client licenses to exchange server and a NT server and exchange server cost this way.

If moneys not an object perhaps they might buy an official copy of e-smith then if they dont already have one?

I had a look along time ago at twig, it seems alot nicer than other offerings, i might look at packaging this for e-smith some time this week if i get a chance

I am sure that they will want an official copy with book and all. They like to have all the documentation on everything that they have.

And hey if you are packaging TWIG for e-smith I might even want to use your package.  It has an install_twig.sh script that I understand works quite well. I have just done manual installs of it so far.

Charlie,

were you able to test out the 3ware raid controller? Is it, or can it be made compatible with e-smith 4 or will we need to wait for e-smith 5?

Thanks.
