Title: Tape Backup
Post by: Lindsay Steele on October 04, 2000, 04:28:28 AM
What sort of cheap Tape Backup systems are known to work well with e-smith. Will an IDE TR4 tape work well with something like taper ?? Does anyone else have any combinations that are known to work well ??. It also has to be a tape backup system, or something that allows backups will need to be stored offsite.

   Thanks,

       Lindsay

here is an article that describes what you want http://e-smith.made-to-order.net/article.php3 I don't have links to all the parts that you need but this article lists them and you can usualy find rpms for them on http://rpmfind.net. You also might check e-smith.org to see if the e-smith-flexbackup rpm has a newer version since Charlies contrib stuff is over there now.

And here is the original, which I wrote [and which Tim has used without permission or attribution :-)].

I can verify that an Iomega Ditto 3200 Travan 3 tape drive works fine, but I have not built an e-smith-flexbackup RPM to support non-SCSI tapes yet.
