I need some assistance getting PPPOE working with e-smith. I've downloaded and installed the contrib RPMs, but I can't seem to get it working.
Would someone who has managed to configured their e-smith system to automatically connect to the DSL line with PPPOE mind telling me how they did it. I can't be the only one who's having troule with this. Thanks!

An excerpt from the FAQ:
"To activate these RPMs, you need to first configure the system for dialup mode - this sets the Username and Password, then configure the system for dedicated mode - this configures the ethernet interface. When you reboot your system it should connect successfully to your supplier."
Have you configured the system this way?

Yep. No luck whatsoever. I'm going to comb through settings and possibly switch an ethernet card and try that.

Be sure to look for clues in /var/log/messages before you do anything else.

Apparement le package pour le pppoe ne fonctionne plus avec la base e-smith 4.0.12-36.
Avec la base fournie sur le cd, je n'ai eu aucun probleme à faire fonctionner pppoe.

Translation:
PPPoE doesn't work with e-smith-base-4.0.12-36, though worked fine with e-smith-base-4.0.12-26.
Webgeek: What version of e-smith-base are you using?
JeromeV: For your observation, merci beaucoup, nous regarderons dans lui.

It works!
I'm using e-smith-base 4.0.12-28 I guess I'll be sticking with that.
Thanks for the help, all!

I wish I knew ... :-(
Judging from Paul Nesbit's message above, it may be a matter of the base install version.
When I was having problems, I was using an Intel 100B and 3Com 900B for NICs. I swapped the 3Com for another Intel and re-installed.
When it got to the initial setup screen, I switched to another teminal (Alt-F2) and installed the updated mailx rpm, the 4.0.12-28 base rpm (I thought it was the most up to date at the time), and the PPPOE rpms.
I then configured it exactly as Charlie said: set up for dial-up, entering my DSL login info, and rebooted. After reboot, I set up for dedicated DHCP and rebooted. When it came back up it logged in just fine!
I hope this helps.

J'ai effectué la mise a jour vers la base e-smith 4.0.12-37.
PPPoE fonctionne a nouveau.
Par contre la mise à jour DynDNS ne fonctionne toujours pas.
De plus, mes iBays sont innaccessibles en http depuis l'interface externe. En ftp pas de probleme.
