Title: TIOCMBIC failed: Input/output error
Post by: Michael on October 22, 2000, 01:12:03 AM
Hi everyone, I am having a problem that I can not find on any treads. Can anyone help?

There seems to be 2 problems, the first with fetchmail, cron give the folowing error:-
fetchmail: timeout after 300 seconds waiting to connect to server mailserver.
fetchmail: client/server synchronization error while fetching from mailserver
fetchmail: Query status=7

The 2nd error I have found by looking at the /var/log/messages, I don't understand this. The server accesses the net through a router. Internal IP range is 192.168.0.1 Router is on 192.168.1.1 There is no modem attached to the computer.

All I can think of is that you have installed the e-smith-dialin contrib add-on rpm - since you don't have a modem, of course it doesn't work.

What does "rpm -q e-smith-dialin" say?

Thanks Charlie,
Strange one, we installed the dialin module some weeks ago to test it, removed the modem, but let the dialin module on the system. No ill effects were reported until 2 days ago.

Thanks again.
