Title: front page server extensions
Post by: Jason Hammond on November 26, 2000, 09:10:22 PM
Hi, I am running e-smith as my email and web server, awesome product.  there was a post from a couple of weeks ago regarding frontpage server extensions that was never addressed.

I took the following steps.
First: go into /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf/
and 'pico 05Port' change to 8080 or a port other than 80. Control-O to save and
Control-X to exit pico.

Next: type /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf to expand the new /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file reflecting the port change to the e-smith web server (the one with www.e-smith.domain.com/e-smith-manager, which still works completely) you will access it at http://www:8080/e-smith-manager, now type /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart to restart the weberver on port 8080.

when I installed the front page server extensions it wanted to know the locations of the server config file. I pointed to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf .

now either the e-smith web manager does not work or the frontpage extensions do not work.  Im sure Im not the only one who has had difficulty installing the extensions. is there a complete doc on how to do this.  the previous post only went over installing the apache update, I think the server extensions must need some modifiying for these e-smith machines.

Thanks in advance.
