Title: Command line access
Post by: Booker Hinton on October 12, 2000, 07:33:38 AM
How do I access my e smith server thru command line. Each time I log into it thru telnet it reverts to the grey screen with the few options, configure, reboot, test internet, etc....etc. I try using the alt f2 thing but it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you Charlie. I appreciate the response. I did read this earlier and downloaded the program. But I have no idea how or where to install it. I downloaded openssh-1.2.2. Expanded it contains 117 files and 15 folders. Sorry to be such a noodnick but I am still pretty much a novice. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like the source code for openssh. You don't need that. Please go to the http://www.e-smith.org/ and you will find an article about installing openssh on your e-smith gateway.

But you don't need ssh - you can access the command line directly on the console.
