I'm having trouble connecting to the net using bpalogin and was wondering if anyone had any ideas what could be the cause of the problem. First here's what I've done. Went through a fairly standard install, except chose 10.10.10.42 as my local IP address, Rebooted then installed bpalogin ver 1.3 from Charlie's ftp site. I then edited the bpalogin.conf file to insert my username and password. Then I installed the e-smith_bpalgin.... noarch rpm and followed the instructions included with that, then rebooted. After rebooting I ran ifconfig to check both adapters and I received an IP from bigpond OK. If I ping any public address by name from the e-smith box it just hangs but if ping a public address by name from a win98 client (using DHCP) it at least resolves the name to an IP but then replies "request timed out". Could it be that my resolve.conf should have nsw.bigpond.net.au listed as the default domain?? Somehow I dont think bpalogin is my problem. In the past if the network settings were correct I have been able to ping the auth-server without even installing bpalogin, so I'm thinking it's got something to do with the default domain setting. Anyone have any ideas?
