I have been running E-Smith 4.0 flawlessly for a number of months now, and recently added a second server on our network to replace the win98 file server. At first it ran just fine, but after about a day something between the two caused the gateway box to stop responding to the internal network. It continued to process requests from the internet including retrieving/storing mail, but would not respond to even a telnet command. I shut down the file server, and rebooted the gateway. Everything came back up fine on the gateway. I have not restarted the file server as of yet.
Here is the configuration;
the gateway box is the DHCP / mail / gateway / etc. etc.
the file server was set with a ip address within the range reserved for static by the gateway, and mapped to via the win98 work stations.
Should I have run any particular rpm to shut down something else on the file server.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for help with the setup of a second e-smith server/workstation on my network. I figure that this is the safest way to experiment with upgrades etc. without messing up my existing e-smith server & gateway (chicken!), which so far I am very pleased with. I have managed to get apache and samba running in a fashion on my second e-smith and have had to assign a fixed IP. After boot up I get the following messages, if that's any help:
e-smith login: nbp_rgstr: Success
Can't register e-smith:Workstation@*
nbp_rgstr: Success
Can't register e-smith:netatalk@*

Would be nice if my main e-smith could be configured properly into the network i.e. via DHCP etc.
