I've just discovered the e-smith world and first I have to say that I'm very impressed at the professionalism of the materials and the site and info. The doco looks very good and complete and from what I've seen so far the SW will be just as good.
My issue is:
I have a need to set up a firewall/gateway for a local Lan with a cable modem on one ethernet card and two local subnets.
The first local subnet will be a standard PCI ethernet card serving a few local hardwired machines through a hub.
The second local subnet will be a Wavelan (Lucent) Orinoco PCMCIA card on a PCI adapter. It will have a different subnet than the other local connection.
I need for the Wavelan client and the traditional clients on either subnet to be able to access the outside world (Web, Mail, News, FTO, NTP, etc) - outbound traffic only - no inbound connections to servers.
I also need for the local subnets to be able to access each other behind the firewall. This is for making backups across the LANS and because one of the local boxes uses fetchmail to gather pop email for all users - this local server then acts as a pop server for local lan clients.
Will there be any problem using e-smith to route packets amongst the local subnets behind it's firewall?
Any issues with the Wavelan / Lucent Wireless adapter?
Thanks in advance for any assistance or info.
