SME6.0 Constantly processing up-change event
« on: March 19, 2004, 04:33:00 AM »
Greetings,

I have just installed SME6.0 on a new box. Checking the logs, I have noticed that the system keeps continually processing the ip-change event. When it finishes, it does it again, ad infinitum.

The box is connected to an ADSL router via ethernet on a 3com 3c905TX 10/100 card. The router serves a reserved IP address to the SME box. The SME box's DHCPCD log shows that the 3com card receives the ip address with an infinite lease time.

Has anyone out there come accross this same problem and if so, how did you fix it.

As a side note, the ADSL router does not have the ability to specify a lease time, so I hope that this is not the fix!!

This is likely dhcpcd restarting. Can you confirm in your logs? Please look for any errors relating to dhcpcd. If you set a static IP instead, does it still happen?

This seems to have in common the upstream dhcp server is a dsl router - the Netgear RT314 - might be wrong about the RT - couldn't find any reference on Netgear's site to this router

Had to change to a static IP
