Topic: Server keeps crashing in the middle of file transfer

I've got a strange problem with one of my servers.  I set up a secondary server as a backup location.  It's got an ibay which is set up as a smb share, and my primary server performs the backup2ws to that share each night.  Approximately 50% of the time, however, it crashes in the middle of the transfer, at different times.

What log files could I look at on my backup server (running SME 6.5 rc1) to find the cause of the failure?  It's still running when I check it in the morning, but locked up (ie. no display and keyboard is locked).

I'm thinking it's a hardware problem, but would like to rule out any software issues first.
