Topic: Itex ADSL PCI Modem

Just a question.  

Does SME Server 7 support the Itex chipped PCI ADSL modems that were available a few years ago?  they went under various names - Dynalink here in Australia called it the ALH 110 and I think D-Link used the same chip on one of their PCI ADSL modems.

I am hoping to construct a modem router / server using this PCI modem, and I would love to be able to use something other than MS software, which is the only way at the moment due to drivers for this modem.

Is anyone able to assist on this one?

I doubt it will be supported out of the box. We only support PPPoE over an Ethernet like device, so it will need to present an Ethernet interface.

You'll need to check the files in /usr/share/hwdata to see if the kernel even knows about the card. We only support devices which are recognised by the CentOS/RHEL kernel.

Thank you.  I will download it and have a look, but I don't hold out much hope.  

The card does present an Ethernet interface  - it is essentially a network card with an adsl modem chip on it, but the it is a bit of a softmodem type of thing, in that the chip is configured by the driver software, and you select the particular driver for bridge mode, pppoa and one other, which eludes me at the moment.

I think I am stuck with a MS solution for this one.

No. The manufacturer went into liquidation, and never released source code to their driver.
