Topic: Nic problems : howt to load others NIC

Hello,

I've got a motherboard made by TYAN corporation with a Broadcom 1000 nic (2 sockets) & an additionnal one (pci) by intel (Pro1000 - also 2 sockets) - None of them are recogized & Tyan give general driver for those two NIC but manual installation failed (eg : pb of path on kernel sources) -

Any one can help?

Can you specify the model number of the motherboard. It looks like both of those nic's are supported. Are you using the latest version of smeserver (Ver 7.0 final)?? I also have a tyan m/b with onboard Intel gigabit nic. The drivers that are used are:
Intel Pro1000 driver=e1000
Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet=tg3
To load the drivers for your system try the following:

To view current the curent drivers
#/sbin/e-smith/db configuration show EthernetDriver1

To re-assign the LAN to use e1000 module:
#/sbin/e-smith/db configuration set EthernetDriver1 e1000
(where EthernetDriver1 is the LAN and e1000 is the module for the Intel nic)

To re-assign the External Interface to use the tg3 module:
#/sbin/e-smith/db configuration set EthernetDriver2 tg3

#/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
#/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
BTW, Why do you need 4 nic's. Can you either disable the dual onboard Broadcom's or remove the PCI Intel dual nic.

My main board is a GT 24 B2891V20 - sold with a Nec rack -
I do not need all of those NIC (only 2) but i was not sure when bying it was ok on this distrib. ( spec are ase usual RHL 2/3/4

Those Cards are listed but program install failed (none of them are recognized - none of them are loaded when selecting manually)

I will try with shell command... I will tell you soon.

Manual conf° in shell mode failed (for any of them) =>"tg3 is not present" said the system...

Note : NIC cards are double entry card - is this a problem
