AddExtraHardDisk

In the discussion for the Howto: AddExtraHardDisk is the comment that if you lose the extra hard disk you lose the system.

I found this when I started trying to fix a system that quit working. Start-up gets to the point of starting the extra hard drive, doesn't find it, registers a failed and kicks out to a shell. (obviously, disconnecting the hard drive doesn't help.)

Is there an interactive option that will tell the system to ignore the dead hard drive or is this a start-over situation.

You could try booting with the SME Server installation CD and try the repair action, however possible user data on the faulty disk will most likely be lost... perhaps consider a RAID solution and backup to keep you from losing data in the future.

Thanks Cactus.
This is a test unit, so fortunately the only loss is the time to set it up, but....
Can I modify the AddExtraHardDisk howto so that a dead disk is not a dead system?
