USB Drive not mounting
« on: January 25, 2009, 12:27:17 AM »
Now that I have got my 750GB RAID up and running I want to make sure it is backed up (as highlighted by recent events here) but when I plug in my USB drive I check the message log and get this:

So when I go to try and setup the backup through the relevent panel it says there is no disk there. How do I get my drive mount so I can set up a backup.

My setup is standard SME 7.4 no extra contribs (currently).

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than its worth ~ Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

And this:
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-June/023377.html

Have you tired to disable apic in the grub.conf  - you will find some reference to this procedure here:

- chris
If it does not work out of the box, please fill in a Bug Report @ Bugzilla (http://bugs.contribs.org)  - check: http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Help .  Thanks.

I had looked up my APIC errors previously on the net and had added noacpi to my kernel parameters. It wasn't until I read through cactus' link that I realised that I had spelt the parameter incorrectly. I change the parameter to noapic, rebooted and was then able to set the backup.

Thanks for the help.
