Is there a way in which the maildrop settings can be adjusted to pull mails down every 2 minutes instead of the default 20 minutes.  Any help will be highly appreciated

I presume you mean fetchmail. The default frequency is 15 minutes, not 20minutes. There's not much point in making it more frequent, as you just end up with overlapping mail collections. If you want low latency email delivery, you should avoid use of fetchmail, and just use standard (SMTP) mail delivery.
