Hi Everyone,
Ive managed to install alfresco on my SME sever using the bitnami stack and it works well. (http://bitnami.org)
I've installed it on a second SME box. Internally it works fine but when i want to allow access for outside my LAN it doesn't want to work. I've asked around and according to the people at bitnami the only port that i need to forward is 8080.  I used telnet  to my external IP to make sure that the port is open.
I've done that but still no luck, any ideas?

I read that port 80 or 8080 are used. So that should be checked. There is a portforward option if you use port 8080.

You might want to say more about your network topology...

To connect to the server internally I use http://local-IP:8080/alfresco
This shows that it uses 8080

I've got 2 sme boxes.
box 1 = firewall with public IP
box 2 = alfresco

i can access the alfresco on the local lan, but want to be able to access it through our public IP. i did a port forward on box 1 (port 8080 udp & tcp) to box 2


if i run netstat -ant on box 2 i get.

Hello, I have tried to install alfresco using bitnami, but the installer just exited..

How did you install the stack?

if you are using the 3.0-2
try to rename the "/etc/redhat-release"
file to /etc/redhat-release.back" and install the Stack. Once you have installed it you can restore it.

I'm trying to follow this installation method and I'm not sure of the proper way to do it...

When I'm asked "MySQL Server root password:", does it mean a new mysql server is being installed or is it the one currently running?

Any help ?

as far as I understand from this page, you are installing everything is needed.. so mysql too..

I suggest you to search more info on bitnami's site
