Topic: 8.0b5 - lost all public access

Hi all,

I've got a weird situation since last night...
First, I lost my external link, but after some searching I've found it was due to one of the NICs that was not properly secured (go figure why I forgot that when building the server...). It had moved. I've put it back in place, put a screw on it, restarted and I got my normal (local) services back. Only it seems my server can't be accessed from the outside world anymore.

It's an upgrade from 7.4. Some time ago the motherboard failed and I replaced it, but the install CD of the 7.4 wouldn't recognize the SATA controllers of the new motherboard, so I have been forced to switch to 8.0b5 which did install properly.

When trying to bring down the eth1 device (the external card) I get an error about the MAC address not being the one expected (sorry the message's in French, basically it says the MAC address for the device is not the right one so the device's ignored). Just by curiosity I changed that network card and reconfigured the server, still the same result... But it's up, I can access the Internet, and I can also access my sites locally. I can even send emails only I don't receive. I've tried accessing my sites through two free web proxies and it fails.

During my initial testing (before finding out the NIC had moved) I tried switching from server-gateway to server only and back to server-gateway. Could it have something to do with it?

I can't find anything particular in messages.log but I'll paste it here if required. Also, when checking if httpd-e-smith is up I get this:

I can restart it it says "OK" but I still get the same status.

That's all I can think of for now... If anyone has an idea it'd be much appreciated! I had planned to move my shop and my emails to an other server but it's not done yet, and it's a real problem for me.

That is OK as it says that it is running and has been for the last 2175 seconds.

Ok, that's what I was suspecting as I get local access anyway...
I'm in the process of moving my shop now, I'd have had to do it sooner or later as a simple personal ADSL line is in no way adapted to host a production site, but I'd still like to understand what's going on though...
