VPN and Vigor Router troubles
« on: December 16, 2002, 04:14:25 AM »
Situation:
SME running as server only domain controller (192.168.1.60)
Vigor 2600 ADSL router providing internet gateway/firewall (192.168.1.1)
DHCP supplied from SME (disabled in Vigor)

Everything works fine, users can get email, browse the internet, print.  No problems.

However, the Vigor has its own VPN server, which I can connect to remotely (this works) giving a remote IP address of 192.168.1.202 (this is configured in the router and cannot be changed.)  I can connect and log into the router, but cannot see anything beyond it.

if I ping 192.168.1.60 it times out, if I ping it by name it gives the the ip address, and times out.  HTTP to 192.168.1.60 fails, and SSH (Putty) also doesn't work.  SSH access is set to Private in the management screen.

Anyone got any clues as to what might be wrong?  I don't really want to have to use the SME VPN server (anyway, isn't there a problem with it in server only mode?) as I'd rather trap it at the router.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Dont know if you've looked through there or not but thats the manufacturer of your routers VPN faq page. May be something useful in there.

Remote PC: 192.168.1.100 (DHCP assigned from a local Linksys broadband gateway/router, which is on 192.168.1.2, just in case it trips over the remote one!)
