Topic: How to disconnect modem from manager?

My e-smith is configured for dialup server/gateway. Is there a way to disconnect my modem from the manager? Also e-smith "seems" to dial on its own. I have had all client systems shut off and watched the server activate the modem. I don't utilize the mail server yet, no domain name-mx records, so no fetching. Connections are set to "short". Any help or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

In order to disconnect you can log a telnet program in any workstation an connect to server (192.168.1.1 (ussually)) as user root with the same password you use for admin
then tipe  service diald stop .(to start it again you should type: service diald start)
this is an emmergency stop.
you should check the intervals in all your software running in the net cause many programs may send tcp packets and bringup the connection makeing it seems to be erratic.
The diald works just fine for me  but i had to make many adjustements in all my workstations in the net.
for example, if you leave any internet or mail application open it will probably bring up the connectian at anytime regerdless the time you have set in your e-smith web console.

From the e-smith console pres Alt+F2 or Alt+F3 and you'll get a login prompt.
Log as user root with your admin/root password
and type "service diald stop" to terminate a connection and "service diald start" to leave the system ready for tcp  requests.
as I say before this is an emmergency procedure, you should check what is triggering the dial script of your e-smith server,
 Could be the e-smith notification as you were told before or..(more probable). windows software as always.
