anti-virus? & squidguard
« on: February 13, 2001, 07:18:25 AM »
I remember seeing several posts re: adding the qmail-scanner to the basic 4.0 e-smith install, but my searches on those earlier posts comes up null.
Has this been removed, or am I just imagining havingseen them???

I am very interested in trying it out on my test server, before I move my office over the e-smith server. It seemed rather involved from what I had read, and I expect it will take some doing. But after getting hit with the latest *.vbs script, I would really like to get something going.

Also, any success stories with squidguard? I don't want to know where people are going, etc. but I would like to control the use of Windows Media Player by the people in the office. I was able to block Real Audio, but W.M.P uses HTTP to send the streams, and that's alot harder for me to block. It's amazing what effect 5-6 people listening to the radio has on everything else

Thanks in advance for any help

then ask off list ya woose

squidguard works with e-smith, but all that has been implemented has been blocking (or allowing) url's

user or time or filetype filtering or whatever else that
squidguard supports would have to be implemented manually
but it sounds like you could do that, and when you do let the maintainers know how /what you did.
