I'm running e-smith 4.0.1 as my mail/web/ftp server. For some strange reason, my ftp, mail (both pop & smtp) went down yesterday. My investigation seemed to indicate that the inetd daemon stopped working.
When I manually restarted inetd, it came back up but FTP & mail were not working. I was able to get FTP back up by changing it to standalone, but the mail server is still buggy. QMail is running with all the modules up, and IMAP is working, but SMTP and POP are not. All connections to ports 110 and 25 are refused (even from localhost), and any attempts to restart the pop or smtp daemons manually fail.
Anyone have any ideas? Rebooting is a very, very last resort.
