« on: February 19, 2001, 05:51:13 PM »
I have a pop e-mail address at my provider (username@provider.com).
Now I want this address being forwarderd to a special account on the e-smith box(mail@mydomain.com).

Is this possible and yes howto do it.

Thanks,

I have a similar request.
we have a domain used for email  my.name@mail.com
our e-smith server is currenly used for dialup email send/retieval and has an internal domain name of internaldomain.com

i would like to filter/forward incoming mail to each user
my.name@mail.com to my.name@internaldomain.com

Ideally I would also like to receive email from numerous domains ie mail1.com, mail2.com and forward to the relevant user my.name@internaldomain.com

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

That's exactly what multi-drop mail retrieval does. Set it up from the e-smith-manager.

Multi-drop mail distributes mail for users at all virtual domains that you have set up. The only restriction is that it needs to come from a single external mailbox. If you want anything else, you will need to set it up yourself.

The configuration via the e-smith-manager collects the email ok but does not map the external domain name to the internal domain.
ie my.name@externaldomain.com is not mapped to
my.name@internaldomain.com but is collected by the administrator

our website and pop account is located externally at
www.externaldomain.com and our internaldomain has a different name.

I must be miss configuring something on the e-smith-manager.

Has anybody else got this to work through the 2 email setup screens e-smith-manager.

Thats ok I can deal with that once the above technique works.

If you have no objection, I will set up an unofficial e-smith FAQ
documenting the various techniques that have been discussed on the
devinfo and experienced user boards to assist relative newbies to
linux.

Investigate www.zoneedit.com, this is a free service that includes many Internet i.e. DNS config options including a mail forwarding function. I am not using the mail forward, however I do use the CNAME or web aliase function to mask my domain name that is serviced by a dynamic dns and am very happy with the service. Also many web hosts will forward mail accounts for you. If you have not upgraded to e-smith ver. 4.1, do so. They have included web mail, very neat. I hope this works or sheds some light on the subject.
