First of all: Thanks for this great Product. It works great and reliable and the installation is right out of the box, even to a linux novice like me.

Yesterday I installed a Mac OS X Dev-Release (Ver. 4k73) and tried to connect to my e-smith server as usual and the shares appears on the dektop. But I can't copy any files from or to the server. An error appears everytime... looks like the OS 9 prob...

I did some research on the web and it shows up, that apple did some modification to the Appletalk protocol and released the Version 3. used in Mac OS X , as quoted in the AFP3.0.pdf (http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/macosx.html).
After that i did some research on netatalk and discovered, that a new version (Ver. 1.5) is near to final state. (http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=8642&release_id=26430)

Perhaps this is a know prob. for you...

How can i update the netatalk files on the server or will you release a netatalk update soon?

Thanks,
Mikis Brenner

I've made an RPM of the netatalk version that you mention - you can find it in my contrib area at ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/charlieb/RPMS/.
I've verified that it installs OK, but not that it works reliably, or solves your problem. You could try that. Be sure to let me know how it goes.

We don't currently have plans to release a netatalk update, but will if we have demand from our customers and partners.
