searching for german users of e-smith
« on: March 09, 2001, 02:47:58 PM »
Hi to all users of this nice product !

It is very easy to get a running file-server........but all the other settings
specially all the the email settings are very difficult for me.....!

mmm......some users would get a little smile on there faces...!

Another stupid german user.....!?

But i hope to get some help !

Some facts:
- 10 users that all had an one mail adress. It look like this:
  username.domain.de
- they all have differend Usernames and Passwords for Pop-Access
  (the same provider)

So what settings must be done to get the local e-smith server
for sending/receiving all the differend accounts ?

If you know an answer.....please let me a short notice !

Hi Andreas,

There are several ways to get the mail of different POP-accounts to your e-smith server:

1. Ask your ISP where you have your POP-accounts to drop all mail @yourdomain.de in a single POP3-box and retrieve the mail with the Multi-drop option of e-smith. This is the simplest thing to do when you are using dial-up for your Internet-connection.

2. With the ETRN-command all mail for your domain is also transferred to your e-smith server, but not all ISP support it.

3. When you have a fixed line just let your e-smith server be the SMTP-server for your domain. This is the default. You must update the MX-records of the DNS-server for your domain to point to the e-smith server. If you are behind a router with NAT you will have to translate it all request to port 25 to your e-smith server.

In alle cases the seperate POP-accounts are obsolete.

Succes,

Fred.

Na, da bin ich wieder,

Konfiguration Puretec

"Envelope-to"

Das wars
