Hi! I am installing a new server (200 mhz, 64 meg, 3com 595&905). I was able to get it working as a firewall on our NT/2000 network but could not get access to mail/WebMail (errmsg - incorrect entry or password timed out). I did put in passwords for each user. I noticed that on the boot that 'xinetd'  had errors and did not load. I can not seem to find info on the forum that helps me identify the problem. ( I did go to www.xinetd.com to get some background). I am new to e-smith/linux. Any suggestions would be helpful.

WMcKay,

if you can access your e-smith server with a terminal (preferable SSH), try login as root, and at the prompt just type xinetd, and see what happens.

xinted reads xinetd.conf, that starts various services like smtp pop3, ftp etc etc.
also make sure that each service is enabled from the webadmin interface.

hope this helps.
