« on: March 29, 2001, 12:04:43 PM »
problems with dyndns not work. noticed bug report for 4.1 for dyndns so I applied e-smith-named-1.4.0-08.noarch.rpm

But I'm still getting the same error:
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg: Looking up rh.tzo.com
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg: Unable to locate remote host rh.tzo.com.
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg: Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg:
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg: lynx: Can't access startfile http://rh.tzo.$
Mar 29 18:00:19 e-smith e-smith-bg: TZOName=graenet.com

To be certain that any update is effectively applied, after you
install the RPM, do:

/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

Useful tip, thanks Charlie.  I had rebooted but this wasn't enough.

Anyway I've just done as you suggest and the script is now connecting to the site but it's returning the error*:

Fri Mar 30 12:00:56 EST 2001:     There's
Fri Mar 30 12:00:56 EST 2001:       been an error!
Fri Mar 30 12:00:56 EST 2001:
Fri Mar 30 12:00:56 EST 2001:       You have an invalid TZO name.

I've taken the issue up with TZO - they can run the script successfully so I tried it manually:
ie
lynx g
http://rh.tzo.com/webclient/rhsignedon.html?TZOName=graenet.com&Email=graeme@graenet.com&TZOKey=K123303122142049&IPAddress=61.9.177.203&B1=Sign+On+to+TZO+DDNS+Servers

and it worked.  So I've either entered my details in the console incorrectly or there's an issue with the script.

In the console setup after selecting dynamic dns/tzo you get to fill in two fields; an account name and password.  With tzo this terminology is incorrect.  TZO account name = the domain name, which the script garners from the servers dns you entered earlier - what they want here is your email address and for the password the ID key. I've verified by logging on manually correctly (see above) and also that this is what I've entered as the output in /var/log/messages prior to the patch showed these fields correctly set and I haven't changed them:

Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: Unable to locate remote host rh.tzo.com.
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: lynx: Can't access startfile http://rh.tzo.c
om/webclient/rhsignedon.html?
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: TZOName=graenet.com
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: &Email=graeme@graenet.com
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: &TZOKey=K123303122142049
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: &IPAddress=61.9.177.110
Mar 26 11:34:49 e-smith e-smith-bg: &B1=Sign+On+to+TZO+DDNS+Servers

Sorry for length of this post (a good indicator that I've probably missed something obvious)

* this output is not visible in /var/log/messages, just some output containing TZ$ which indicates it was connecting to something - this result I got from running
/sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/tzo
