Check in /var/log/messages to see what is going on when the IP address changes - ie to see whether all the IP dependant services re-start so they keep working with the new IP address.  You should see a line showing the success or otherwise of your dyndns script there.

I've noticed in my logs that my IP @ is updated only every 7 days :
  Apr 29 04:25:02 e-smith dyndns.org: Update at 193.251.14.110 succeeded.
  Apr 22 04:22:40 e-smith dyndns.org: Update at 193.251.14.110 succeeded.
  Apr 15 04:22:37 e-smith dyndns.org: IP Address 193.251.14.110 already in database.
  Apr  8 04:22:39 e-smith dyndns.org: Update at 193.251.14.110 succeeded.
  Apr  1 04:22:36 e-smith dyndns.org: IP Address 193.251.14.110 already in database.

This is strange as my ISP disconnects me every 24 hours (dynamic IP).
I've never had any problem with it as i have the same IP @ since mid february.

N'oublies pas le forum alt.e-smith.fr

Your e-smith domain doesn't match your dyndns domain
In your /tmp you'll see a file that is the report of the conection status of dyndns service
if you have a different name in your box than the assigned for dyndns you should see a line:"notfqdn"
if your config was ok (or you modify the dyndns.org script) you will see: "www.xxx.yyy.zzz ok" or something alike.
take a look to www.dns2go.com they offer a free service that can be used with e-smith.
seems to be good enough

Correct - If your IP hasn't changed, there's no need to update the Dynamic DNS service :-) We don't bother informing the Dynamic DNS services if you just reboot/reconnect with the same IP. Some systems (e.g. cable modem systems) would do this every few hours.

We do have a weekly "prod the dynamic DNS service" cron job, as some services time out your address if you don't tell them you are still active. These are the log entries you mentioned above.

Others however (and dyndns.org is an example) penalise you if you update too frequently. The weekly update is a reasonable compromise, though we may need to reduce that frequency in the future.

In other words, you are working just fine.

Well, just to add my two cents:
My residential DSL service is very good most ways, and when using the Linksys router, I think I only have to "nudge" it to connect every 2-3 weeks.
In contrast, the stock settings for v. 4.1.2 don't update frequently enough to keep up with the dynamic nature of my DSL connection.

To compensate for this, I am using ipcheck.py from ipcheck.sourceforge.net
I actually run it hourly, since it does nothing if the address has not changed. Important to prevent abusive updating at dyndns.org!!!

Without this, the entry at dyndns.org will fail to change before a few hours have gone by. The connection is up, just "new"
