Backup at zipdrive possible?
« on: May 11, 2001, 01:39:25 PM »
Hello,

I got a 100mb parallel zipdrive here and I would like to use it for backups from my e-smith server. Is this possible to use this zipdrive instead of a tapestreamer? How do I configure e-smith for using this zipdrive and how to configure it that it accepts the zipdrive as backup medium?

TIA,

Timothée

Is it possible = yes, is it recommended = no

Documentation is available at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/ZIP-Drive.html.  Backups would have to be done manually using the flexbackup command line.

why isn't it recommended? I don't have the money for a tapestreamer and I don't use my zipdrive, so it could be a perfect backup system for my home situation.

Thanx for the link, I will read it. I was just wondering if I needed to do some non-usual configuration to the e-smith system but I guess it works exactly the same as other linux systems. Unfortunately it isn't then possible to backup from the webbased admin but backup from command line will also do.
