ESP port forwarding for IPSec
« on: May 21, 2001, 02:33:06 AM »
Hi,

With 4.1.2 E-Smith *apparently* has IPSec support. How do I get it running??

I use Nortel Extranet Client to connect to my office, and currently use another server/router solution which supports IPSec. I have to forward protocol 50 from the router to the client, but in the routing software I select protocol "Other"..... ie not TCP or UDP. As far as I can see E-Smith only offers options for TCP or UDP ports, and so far I've had no luck in getting this working.

I'm not very familiar with TCP/IP networking or Linux for that matter. However, I have noticed that in all documentation IPSec / ESP is referred to as "Protocol 50" not "port 50".

Can someone offer advice on how I set up the appropriate forwarding from a fresh E-Smith install??

TIA

Ritchie
