I tried to connect using the VPN options from a Win2k client to an e-smith 4.1.2.
It didn't work.
I will try again using win9x, but is there someone who had problems with win2k?
Thanks
Filippo

Hi

I tried to get connected to E-smith 4.1.1 from win2k client using PPTP and i got succeeded. I just followd the steps provided by win2k to establish vpn and not done much on the server except enabling the pptp and giving 5 as the number of connections to permit.

But the problem is still i am unable to use the SMTP. I have not got any error in /var/log/messsages ..how do i use SMTP for the remote users with VPN.

with win2k, you must do :
- disable data encryptation in the security option
- disable software compression in the parameter of your vpn connection

I don't know if it's your problem, but i hope

A+

im afraid im not using win2k...

ive been told on a french e-smith forum, that the superencryption pack i should use to make win98 work with e-smith is not available in france but should be downloaded in usa or canada...

ive tried to download several updates from microsoft but nithing works...

I still cant connect more than a few seconds....

if somebody has the patch for win98 ... youre welcome...!!

voice l'adresse de microsoft pour les upgrade DUN 1.4 95, 98 et 98SE :

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q285/1/89.asp

pendant l'installation, il faut forcer le remplacement des fichiers meme si la langue n'est pas la meme ( c'est un patch pour la version en anglais de windows ).

Bonne chance,

I am trying to configure a VPN connection (on the LAN part to start), and nothing is working neither on the client side (I upgraded my Win 98 dun with dun40 and then with dun 1.4 US version and try a lot of combination encryption/compression enabled/disabled) nor on the e-Smith box (I have no log of the failed connection in the /var/log/messages file, though I checked with lsmod that I have the right version of pptp). I only got the error 751 message from Windows.

Any ideas?
