Has anybody setup e-smith with a 3Com courier V everything modem, using an analog leased line???

A howto would be great!

I tried the e-smith FAQ for help but no such luck...?

     What type of help you want? You want to know how to configure
the modem in leased line or how to make the e-smith talk to the modem??

Are you trying e-smith server to e-smith server connectivity or e-smith server
to a remote terminal connectivity??

The ISP is providing us with leased line connectivity. It is an analog leased line and we are using a 3COM Courier V everything (external) on the serial port.

There is no dial-up, authorisation, chat-scripts etc... required!
All we need e-smith to do is use the modem as a dedicated connection - e-smith keeps trying to run chat-scripts etc and try connect and authenticate. We have static IP on the modem - the modem is already setup.

Like I said the is a ANALOG LEASED LINE - using a modem as my external interface!

ISP. The modems are connected. Do you have to initiate a PPP session to
get into internet???? After the modem connection does the ISP send any
LOGIN and PASSWORD prompt??? If you can explain in detail I will
try to help you.

This is correct!

We should not have to initiate any session - the line is dedicated. If the modem drops the line or disconnects etc, they are setup to automatically reconnect and setup the session - hence the analog lease line.

e-smith needs to use the modems the same way it would use a leased line with 2 NICS!

Nope - no authentication is required. We have been given a static IP from our ISP.
