SSLMutex problem

I have installed e-smith 4.1.2 and it's been running great for the last month up until last night.  I cannot accept my web site at all.  I looked in the error log to see what, if anything, was wrong.  Here's what I found:

[Sun Jul 1 14:48:59 2001] [error] mod_ssl: Child could not open SSLMutex lockfile /etc/httpd/logs/ssl_mutex.8986 (System error follows)
[Sun Jul 1 14:48:59 2001] [error] System: Permission denied (errno: 13)

The shows this error is being logged every second, so that tells me this lock file is pretty important.

I went to the ssl_engine_log and checked it and the same entries are in there too.  Looking at the beginning of the log there does not appear to be any problems loading my certificate or key file.

The only to add-ons I've put on the system were phpBB and AWStats.  They both worked for several days before this problem cropped up.

I appreciate any help or tips.

Log Rotation (was Re: SSLMutex problem)

Last night was Sunday = Log Rotation time
ran fine for"several days", but not overlapping one of these, I'll bet...

Whether it's AWStats or the Syslog rotation that hurt Apache's mod_ssl I cannot say since I don't run this system atm...I'd point at AWstats as the 3rd party add-on, though...

I uninstalled the AWStats rpm and rebooted, still no web access and I show a lock file in the logs directory.  Beats me, I just reinstalled.  Before I set anything else up on this reinstall, I'm going to run AWStats for a few days to see if I can track it down to that program.

Anyone else having any troubles with AWStats?
