I was wondering, are GD extensions enabled by default on E-Smith?  If not how do I enable them?

Also I was wondering whether there is a way to switch on CHMOD via FTP?

e-smith 4.1.2 includes gd, but does not include PHP support for gd.  To add PHP support, go through my PHP upgrade HOWTO (linked from the contributed howtos at e-smith.org) and also download the php-gd RPM from rpms.arvin.dk.
