PPTP client behind a firewall / Error 619
« on: July 27, 2001, 03:07:26 AM »
Hello,

I've installed e-smith 4.1.2 and it works very well. The PPTP connection works well if I use a regular dialup connection (NetZero for example) under Windows 2000
Pro.

With the same laptop, if I try to connect through the Internet access provided by my company :
- From inside (intranet)
- From the dialup connection ATT Global Network (VPN)

I got the following error :

Error 619 : The specified port is not connected

It seems that some ports are blocked by the main firewall. I cannot change the parameters of the firewall :)

I read that e-smith uses IP protocol 47 an TCP port 1723. I'm really not an expert on this area but is it possible to change the default PPTP port on e-smith and on Windows 2000 to the telnet port or any other unused ports ?

Thank you very much for your support.
Regards
Dany

You will have to change your firewall settings or port forward.  Do you have access to a real static IP address at work?  That will do the trick.
