Topic: Backup Question

Heyas.

I have a query in relation to backups. Ok I have an E-Smith server that acts as a Fax and Email server.

I have set it up so that all incoming emails are forwarded to a specified email account for backup and the same with outgoing email.

I have installed Hylafax and use the Cypheus client to veiw and retrieve faxes. What I would like to know is what is the best method to backup the /var/spool/fax and the two email directories as to avoid ownership problems if a restore is necessary?

Is there a way to send the data to be backedup to a Windows NT machine? As in copy across a tar.gz file of the emails and another for the fax or something?? Backup's occur on a daily basis onto Tape..

why not use e-smith's built in tape backup?  it will then backup everything.
