Missing Operating System after install
« on: August 30, 2001, 02:04:45 AM »
I just finished installing 4.1.1 on a P-90 with 32 megs ram, 1 ide cd rom and 1 ide hd (4.7g).  It goes through the install okay but it won't make the emergency boot diskette at the end.  It skips that and finishes fine but at reboot I get.
Missing Operating System
I have tried changing the active partition but it doesn't help.

Any ideas

I had a similar experience on a Gateway2000 (way back in 1994 that was the name!) P-90 machine a few weeks ago while installing 4.1.2.  I ended up having to use the 'emergency boot diskette' you refer to in your post - and it booted up from the floppy drive without any trouble.  I'm not sure why it isn't making the boot disk for you, but that would probably "fix" the problem for you.  Someone else here will have some other thoughts on this (hopefully)  Good luck!
