I can answer the question about disapearing email:

If you set up outlook or outlook express to access your mailserver as a POP server, then you need to go into the advanced options in outlook and check an option that specifies NOT to remove email from the server.

If you have outlook set up to access your mailserver as an IMAP, then your messages should stay in your server by default.

If you have anymore questions please post again.

hi,

i didnt setup my outlook express as POP because i am in LAN and not external, i just want test the webmail .

for LAN, in outlook express , for incoming mail: i point to the gateway IP add and outgoing mail i alos point to gateway IP add .

from outlook i try to send email to myself, then i go to https://xx.xxx.xxx/webmail and try login IMAP.

i can receive the email.

after that i logout and back to my outlook express.

as normal ,i clcik on send and receive button, and the mail that i receive at webmail now come to my outlook express.

may i know is there any way that after i read the mail in webmail, the mail still remain there ?

pls assist

thanks

Outlook Express will use POP as the default protocol. If you don't change the protocol to IMAP, then the mail will sure be deleted.

your answer:

my question:

is it mean that i go to outlook express then Tools then Account and choose the propoerties of the account, the i go to to the Advanced option of the account properties ?

i found something:
incoming mail (SMTP)
outgoing mail (POP3)

delivery
Leave a copy of message on server

but i dont think i cant chnage the POP 3 to IMAP ?

With Outlook Express, you will need to remove the POP3 account and set it up again as IMAP

Got to
Tools - Accounts - Remove
Then ADD a new MAIL account

Enter NAME, Email Address, Then Change "My Incoming Mail server is a POP3 to IMAP from the pulldown menu.

Enter everything else the same

Hope this Helps
Dan.

hi,

i have followed your steps in creating new account and Change "My Incoming Mail server is a POP3 to IMAP from the pulldown menu.

after i create the account, it ask me one question:
would you like to download folders from the mail server you added ?

i click yes, the i get 3 extra folders:
inbox, sent items and outbox i think.

thanks for helping me solve this prob

but i still have one question:

1)
After i set
My Incoming Mail server is a POP3 to IMAP
is it mean that if i receive email at IMP (webmail), mean i cant receive it at outlook express, am I right to said that ?

is it possible that we receive the same mail twice ?

pls assist
