Oh, puh-leez!
What company is not motivated by money? There is little sense in forming and running a company if not to make money, shelter money, launder money, or otherwise cause money to change states. The former e-smith never ran a charity; neither does Mitel. You should consider yourself lucky to be able to take advantage of the fruits of their labors FOR FREE if you so choose, and without any fear of legal transgression. Try getting that from Microsoft!
And can we please put an end to the ameobic notion that ServiceLink -- the software, the service, and the pricing -- is the result of Mitel's purchase of e-smith? First, there is no way ServiceLink came into being just since Mitel came along. This was exactly the direction e-smith was headed long before Mitel, and in fact was probably one of the reasons Mitel elected to make the purchase. Second, Mitel didn't just come along and buy e-smith like it was a loaf of bread at the grocery. There was an offer, a negotiation, and a decision by e-smith to agree to be purchased. Any way you slice it, the 5.0 offering is pretty much as e-smith intended it. About the only thing that has changed is the name.
