e-smith behind firewall

We have an existing e-smith system as an internal web and mail server behind a new smoothwall firewall.  Can not access the web administrator now.  I'm guessing we need to foward ports from the firewall.  Can anyone help with the smoothwall setup ?  thanks.

Hi,

I tryed port forwarding but the page connects thru an internal ip address so portforwarding doesn't fix the problem (he uses port 980 fyi), do you want to access the page from an external site or from an ther subnet? From an other subnet you can open the port 980 and set on the workstations the router as primary gateway! An other way is setting up a vpn connection and then try to open the page. Works for me!!!!

Good Luck,

This is only a guess.

Make sure you are using an ip address to connect ie www://10.0.0.1:980

Set your browser to bypass proxy server for local addresses and include the ip address in the exception tab (assuming you use I.E.)

This is only if you you are trying to access the E-Smith box from the lan.

This won't connect to anything - I'm sure you mean open IPaddress:980 in a web browser.  In default configuration that's
http://192.168.1.1:980

David - you don't provide enough information to answer your question.  Are you trying to connect to the web manager outside the firewall or from the e-smith internal network.  Please provide a network diag. to show where you are trying to access the manager from.  eg:

internet <->FIREWALL <-> ESSG 4.1.2 <-> PC on network.(connect to manager from here)
or...
(connect to manager from here) remote internet connected pc <-> internet <-> firewall <-> ESSG <-> LAN
